Fire Warden

3-4 HOUR COURSE

This course gives the basic information all staff need in order to understand their responsibilities in terms of becoming and being a Fire Warden/ Marshall.

Throughout the course participants will become familiar with their responsibilities as a fire warden, gain an understanding of the fire safety practices, what prompts fire and how to combat them safely. They will also become acquainted with the role in the preparation of a fire plan and in fore evacuation procedures.

  • Basic principles and classifications of fires
  • Heat transmission and how fire spreads
  • How to carry out a fire risk assessment
  • Common causes of fires in the workplace
  • Control measures to minimise the risk of fire
  • Structural measures that prevent fire and smoke from spreading
  • Fire detection, fire warning, and fire equipment
  • Requirements for fire plans
  • Emergency evacuation procedures

ASSESSMENTS

There will be a short test at the end of the course in order to confirm learning.
